GK’s experienced team offers unparalleled political insight and targeted communications strategies and advocacy. For over a decade we have provided trusted counsel to corporates, investors, and not-for-profit organisations.

We are seeking a senior public affairs and communications professional to lead programmes for clients, develop GK’s team and service offer and to drive growth.

The ideal candidate would have demonstrable experience working in GK’s priority policy areas – health, education or local government.

Location: London/ Hybrid working arrangement

Length of Contract: Permanent

Salary: Competitive

Key Skills / Competencies

  • Strong political/policy/regulatory knowledge – ideally in one of GK’s priority areas: health, education and local government.
  • Excellent written communication skills across a variety of different formats.
  • Excellent verbal presentation skills
  • Ability to manage, motivate and coach teams to deliver consistently high performance
  • Excellent organisation and time management. Project management skills are also important.
  • Ability to build good relationships and networks.
  • Critical thinking and evaluation skills to scrutinise a policy area and the findings of colleagues
  • Commercial experience and awareness valuable given client base
  • Experience of agency/consultancy desirable but not essential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for client delivery
  • Lead and develop public affairs programmes for clients
  • Undertake outreach and develop content that will support GK marketing and new business with clients
  • Lead on proposals to secure client renewals and new clients
  • Be regarded as trusted adviser by their clients and their colleagues
  • Line management of other team members
  • Own and manage the account planning process including budget, allocation, resourcing and recovery of billable hours
  • To exhibit, and to foster in others, the GK values of respect, excellence, rigour and initiative.
